Summer 2011

Where has time gone? We haven't posted to the blog for a while. Summer went fast-visits to out-of-state families homes, and get-togethers with family here, along with the gardening and all that goes with summer. It was a great summer! The family is growing! To end the summer, we celebrated an 80th birthday party for Grandma Great at Curt and Carol's home. Cousin Jessie took some fun family pictures. Above is David and Acacia and little Evia. Below is our cute Grandma with some of her siblings-Claude, Phyllis, Bernice, and Don. Grandma looks great for 80!

Below is Liz and Rex and their tribe.

Below is Grandpa and Grandma-still sweethearts!

Fun trip to Denver to see Chris Britt and Addyson. Spent the morning at a farmers market where Dad bought his favorite bread. That is one big loaf. Then took a day trip to Colorado Springs to see the Garden of the Gods. Lots of fun rock formations and nice trails.

Fall is upon us and the harvest is in! We look forward to the coming months and continue to thank our Heavenly Father for His numerous blessings.

Easter Fun

It has been a while since we have updated our blog. In going over the pictures, I think of our busy lives. Without our family, our lives would be boring and uneventful. Here's what we've been up to the past five months: Brittany came up with Addyson the week before Easter, so we gathered for an Easter egg hunt and our first cook-out. We were lucky to find some clearing in the weather. Top right is Bailey Jo and Addyson in matching outfits. They were born two days apart in September of last year with Brianna in Aug and Jack in March of last year. Lots of fun cousins!
Grandpa Tanner with the line-up of grandchildren after the egg hunt.

Our first cook-out of the year-hamburgers and hot dogs, yum.

Below is Nate, Catherine and Bailey (asleep on Catherine's back) at our February Island Park ski trip. We rented a cabin this year so all could be together. It was fun to enjoy the beautiful outdoors and visit with one another.

Below is Rex, Liz, Cole and Sophie before Cole's baptism in February. We're proud of you Cole!

The Ogden Temple was closing April 1st, so we gathered the family together to enjoy one last sealing session with Grandpa Tanner. This is where the Paul and JoAnn Tanner family all began. In the picture is Acacia, David, Paul, JoAnn, Phyllis, Nate, Nathan, and Catherine. Liz and Rex were with us but had to leave before the photo shoot.

Brittany and Addyson enjoying a little time at our home in April. We wish you lived closer so we could see you more often.

We look forward to Bryant's arrival home this week and will update you with some pictures shortly. We miss our out-of-state families and look forward to visits soon. We love you all!

Paul and I feel very blessed this month as we have been reminded of the numerous blessings Heavenly Father has given to us. As we gathered together with family for several occasions Paul and I shed tears as we counted those blessings, 13 grandchildren along with our beautiful children and their spouses. Above are our newest grandchildren, from left to right, Bailey Jo Tanner (Nate and Catherine's), Brianna Smith (Sarah and Cordell's), and Addyson Paige Tanner (Chris and Brittany's). Do you like the hats Aunt Liz made for all of them?

We had all the family the day after Thanksgiving for the blessing of Addyson Paige and a celebration of Paul's birthday. We took family pictures and were honored to have Grandma and Grandpa Tanner with us. Bryant of course was not with us as he is on his mission.

Liz ran a half marathon in Provo on Halloween day. Way to go Liz! We're proud of you!

Denver visit to Chris and Brittany's with baby Addyson.

Baby Jack is not too happy to be at the marathon for Liz. There were too many blow horns that scared him.
We love our family! Every one has a special spot in our hearts and we couldn't do without any of them!

Busy August

Where did August go? As the last month of summer came we filled it with a grundle of activities and work, as the harvest from the garden and orchard was beginning to come in. The harvest has been great, both spirititual and physical-lots of produce from the garden and peaches and honey, etc. Yum, yum. But best of all, the birth of two new grandbabies, Liz's in March, Sarah's in August, and two more to go this month! We are grateful for the heritage of the gospel which gives us a reason for rejoicing in our families and a desire to live better so we can be with them through all eternity! We are strengthened by one another and supported in our trials and blessings.

We had a Hawaain luaiu at our home with all the Knudsen's. Good food was provided and lots of fun, with water-balloon volley-ball, a hula-hoop contest, and a fun zip line for the brave ones. We had a great turn out and it was fun to see everyone and catch up on their lives.

Below are Lisa and Brooks

Look out for that pond! Don't get wet!

Paul and JoAnn(love the matching attire)

Our trip to Oregon

Paul and I had a quick trip to Oregon to visit our newest grandaughter, Brianna, and to visit with Cordell, Sarah, and their children. We had a great visit, but only with they weren't so far away. On the way home, we stopped at Crater Lake. Beautiful!

Paul and I took Preston, Sylvia, and Ethan to the ocean one day so Sarah could have a quiet day with the baby, but it was raining when we got to the beach. We spent a little time at the ocean at Coos Bay and walked around a beautiful garden on Shore Acres, then headed back. The children probably wondered what all the excitement was about after spending most of the day in the car. Preston probably would have had more fun in school. But Paul and I loved being with them.

Notice the tutu on Sylvia. This is what she dressed herself in for the outing.

These are deer that come for a daily visit in Sarah and Cordell's yard. They love to nibble on all their vegetation.

This is part of Shore Acres gardens.

Sylvia got a little wet on our short excursion to the ocean. It rained and rained!

Below is a slug the kids found while hiking up to a waterfall.

This was a hike we all made to a beautiful waterfall. Moss hung on everything. Oregon is certainly a beautiful place. Sarah was so brave to go out with a two-week old baby. What a trooper!

This is our newest addition, Sarah and Cordell's little girl, Briana on her blessing day. She was blessed in the same dress that Sarah wore on her blessing day. Sylvia wore this too. Thanks to Great Grandma Knudsen for the beautiful dress.

Briana's blessing day. Sylvia had a crown from primary for her birthday.

Below is Ethan ("the tank") trying to be tender as he holds his little sister.

Grandpa and Sophie (Liz and Rex's little girl) mowing the lawn.

David and Acacia celebrated their little Evia's first birthday August 19. Little Briana was born on the same day. Notice the tutu on Evia. This was part of her birthday outfit. Tutu's must be an in thing with the little girl's these days.

Lastly, here is a picture of our peaches and some of our honey. We were blessed with a good harvest and have been busy picking and harvesting. Paul was inspired to plant 100 peach trees in our back acre. Hopefully they will help to finance some missions in the future.

What a wonderful, busy month of August!
